Disposable buffers are cheap and can easily be found at the department stores or in pharmacies and even in beauty supply stores. Tip #1: Preparation is Important

Prepare the things that you need like nail polish remover, nail clipper, buffer, emery board, beeswax and cotton balls. You have to make sure you will remove nail polish first before you go to the next parts of the process.

Tip #2: Cleaning is Key to Buffing

Clean the surface of the nails first. Dip a cotton ball with a nail polish remover and rub it over the surface of the nails to remove old nail polish. Your nails should be free of any nail polish.

Tip #3: Using Nail Clippers

Use a nail clipper to clip your nails with your desired size. Use the emery board to shape your nails and smooth any rough edges. An oval shape is best recommended since it gives more structural strength on nails.

Tip #4: Using the Buffer

Use the buffer to rub across the surfaces of each nail using a back and forth movement. Spend 10-15 minutes in treating each nail. If you are using a multi-surface buffer, you must use the roughest buffer first followed with the smoother option, buffing each nail for 10 seconds. Buffing the nails for too long can weaken them.

Tip #5: Making Some Finishing Touches

To give your nails an added shine, you can rub a touch of beeswax. This will give them protection also.

Tip #6: Knowing Different Types of Nail Buffers:

There is a 3-in-one buffer that contains a buffer, emery board and a polisher. There is also an emery board which is shaped in the form of a rounded rectangular strip. Lastly, there are buffing blocks which have 3 dimensional rectangular blocks on each side with different grit.

Tip #6: Knowing What Buffing Can Do

It smoothens out ridges on the nail surface so that your nail polish adheres better. It also evens out irregular edges. Likewise, it enhances blood circulation to the nail bed so that nails will grow faster. It also helps get rid of dry and dead surface skin so that nails will be smoother. Furthermore, it gives your nails a smooth and shiny look that you won’t even need a nail polish. Shine can last in a week without chipping.

Tip #7: Knowing What Buffing WON’T Do

Nail buffers are too soft that it cannot shape your nails. It won’t remove nail surface stains in just 1 to 2 or even 3 buffing. Buffing cannot make the nail pink. It only helps increase blood flow to the nail bed which leads to the appearance of pinker nails. It cannot change the color of the nails themselves. It cannot remove nor soften nail cuticles.

Tip #8: Knowing When Not to Buff Nails

Never do it when your nails are brittle, are thin and flexible and are chipped. This can destroy your nails. There are a lot of great things you can do in order to buff nails with a buffer. Several procedures have been given plus knowing when not to buff nails have been elaborated on.

What Is Nail Buffing And How To Do It At Home?

While most of us are more focussed towards creating that perfect face and hair look, one key area that we many times tend to miss out is our nails. From chipped nails to chewed nails to nails that aren’t in shape – there are many nail disasters we end up committing. While manicures and nail paints are a great way to ‘make-up’ your nails, one of the most basic and important technique by which you can ensure your nails will be in great shape is nail buffing.

 What Is Nail Buffing?

Nail buffing means polishing or rubbing your nails with a buffer board (nail buffer) that’s made of fine grit. This leaves your nails looking more consistent and shiny.

Various Nail polishing and Buffing Tools In The Market:

 1. Emery Board:

These are rectangular in shape with rounded edges are used to bring sheen to the surface of your nails. These can also help shape your nails to some extent.

 2. Nail Buffer Board:

These are generally made of fine-grade sand-paper and help smoothen out any rough edges on nails.

3. Cute Nail Buffers in Various Shapes:

These are generally smaller than the regular boards, can be popped inside your tote and are easy to use.

 4. Nail Buffing Blocks:

These are 3-dimensional buffing blocks that are rectangular in shape and come with a different texture on both sides to help smoothen out rough edges and bring a shine on the nails.

 5. Nail Buffer Strips:

These are more like papery strips made of sand-paper and do the same work as the emery board or nail buff, but are used more as a replacement in case you’re not carrying those around with you. Great for travel.

How often To Buff Nails?

You should ideally buff your nails about once a month, but in case your nails aren’t rough, or if you often wear a coloured nail polish and do not really need that extra shine on nails, you can take a longer time in between buffing.

Trim your nails to a desired length

File your nails in a shape that you want – round, square or whatever suits you.

Get a nail buffer – this can either be an emery board or a buffing board, and will have different textures on the sides.

Using the roughest side of the buffer, buff your nails gently, moving the buffer from side-to-side.

Try and remove the roughness from your nails first.

Take a soft cotton cloth to wipe off the extracts

Now take the texture that’s a little less rough and repeat the steps in a gentle, side-to-side motion.

Take the smoothest part of the buffer and buff your nails until they look shiny – as if you’ve applied a clear coat.

Wipe off your nails with the cotton cloth

Does Nail Buffing Increase Hair Growth?

There is no concrete proof that nail buffing increases hair growth. However, it is a proven fact that rubbing the nails of your left and right hand together can actually lead to hair growth.

A few things to keep in mind about Nail Buffing:

Rubbing thumbnails will increase growth of facial hairs, so don’t rub your thumbs

Do not rub your nails during pregnancy as it can cause uterine contractions and lead to high blood pressure

Avoid during surgical conditions

Avoid in case of any skin infections

Avoid if nails are brittle

The very first step of this process is to clean your nails. It is important to ensure that the nail bed is dry and clean. If you have any existing polish, remove it as well. Then, remove all the dead cuticles around your fingers to ease acrylic being attached. After all these steps are done, select your desired tips. Some people prefer that will only strengthen the natural while some look for lengthy nails and it is up to you to decide on that.

After deciding which tip to be applied, apply adhesive which is mentioned earlier to the nail tip and place the acrylic nails on top of your nails. Make sure that the curvy part of your tip fits perfectly with your natural nail. Hold on the tips and gently slide the tip up to the edge of your natural tip. Get a brush and dip it into liquid acrylic and mix it with the powder acrylic. Quickly apply the acrylic onto your nails using the brush and make sure it is spread evenly.
